Black 'Superonda' Sofa by Archizoom Associati for Poltronova, Italy 1967

The Superonda Sofa was the first sofa without a conventional frame. A revolutionary design that not only pushed the boundaries of furniture design, but also made a statement against traditional home culture.

The Superonda consists of two undulating polyurethane blocks, cleverly cut in two with an S-shaped incision. This allows the elements to be slid together and stacked in different ways, creating unprecedented modularity. T he sofa can effortlessly transform into a chaise longue, a bed or a playful, layered seating composition.

Like many pieces by Archizoom Associati, the Superonda challenges conventions and stimulates the imagination of the user. The glossy black leatherette upholstery reinforces its avant-garde character and adds an extra layer of refinement to the iconic pop design.
