Jules Wabbes is one of the leading Belgian furniture designers and interior architects of the post-war period.
He co-founded a first successful company, Mobilier Universel, in 1957 that also spawned American designers.
He then founded GEDE in Brussels in 1969 to exclusively manufacture and sell his metal accessories according to his own quality principles.
All that mattered to Jules Wabbes was the sincere expression of quality in every detail.
And these iconic wall lamps are a good example of that. These are also the early generation! Not comparable to the lamps that are now produced by another manufacturer. And with a beautiful patina!
Wabbes won several prizes, most notably in 1957 and 1960 at the Milan Triennale.
The level of craftsmanship and the use of the very best materials are the true signature of Jules Wabbes. Each GEDE accessory is handcrafted from metal - bronze, brass or steel - all materials Wabbes prefers for their resistance and nobility.
