The work of Emiel Veranneman
After his architectural studies at the Sint-Lukas Institute in Ghent, he became proficient in interior architecture with Henry van de Velde and became internationally known as an interior decorator, furniture designer and art dealer.
He was the founder of the Veranneman Foundation in Kruishoutem, a renowned center for contemporary art. Over time, he focused more on furniture design.
He designed furniture for the world exhibition in Montreal and in 1979 he designed the Belgian pavilion at the world exhibition in Osaka in Japan. In 1994 the Ghent Museum of Decorative Arts devoted another major exhibition to his furniture designs, with a hundred often unique pieces of furniture. He was also known as a Permeke expert.
He quickly became known as a designer and exhibited at home and abroad. Among other things, the interiors of a number of Hilton hotels are by his hand. Together with Paul Delvaux, Veranneman designed the interior of the Congress Palace in Brussels.
