This design chair / seat was designed by Joe Colombo for Comfort in 1963.
This is one of the first pieces of furniture named after his wife Elda.
Joe Colombo had a short but very brilliant career.
The chair is inspired by shipbuilding technology.
The Elda chair was the first chair with a fully self-supporting fiberglass frame.

The chair is incredibly comfortable thanks to its 7 supportive cushions, rotating base and generous proportions.

Joe Colombo was one of the most influential product designers in Italy.
Sadly, he passed away in 1971 at the age of 41.
He was known for his multifunctional objects.
Joe Colombo's Elda chair can also be seen in some world famous movies such as "The Hunger Games" in 2012 and the James Bond movie "The spy who loved me" in 1977.
The chair is of a premium design and gives a warm, cozy feeling in its shell-shaped backrest.

This Elda chair is made of kvadrat fabric and therefore very pleasant to stay in. This chair comes from the first owner who bought it in the 1970s. The fabric has discolored somewhat evenly over the years due to the UV light of the sun. This in turn provides the nonchalant looks for this Elda chair. The cockpit is in very nice vintage condition.

So only for true vintage enthusiasts! They love the patina over the years. Nice piece of history.
