Sculptural console by Idir Mecibah, 1996

Brutalist console designed by Idir Mecibah for Smederij Moerman Antwerp, Belgium 1990s.

This unique piece of furniture belongs to the Scrab series and is made of forged steel. The design is characterized by a striking detail: a square of gold leaf in the middle. Idir Mecibah, who died at a young age, left behind a limited number of designs, most of which are no longer in production.

This makes this piece particularly rare. Idir Mecibah passed away at the age of 45 in Antwerp, Belgium. This designer had just started out and had also just signed a contract with the Belgian top furniture brand Durlet.
