The chair was originally designed in 1948 by Charles & Ray Eames for a design contest at the Museum of Modern Arts in New York.
The name of the "La Chaise" chair is inspired by a sculpture by Gaston Lachaise, namely the "Floating Figure".
The two have a lot of similarities!
The lounge chair was therefore a great success & results in one of the more interesting designs to this day.
