Graziella Marchi, Priggoniere numero 4, oil on canvas, dated 1969 on the reverse, titled and signed.
Graziella Marchi is an Italian artist born in Milan in 1932. She started painting actively in 1965 and has since built a remarkable career in the art world.
Her artistic journey began during her teenage years, when she lived in Como and took drawing lessons from the painter Manlio Rho, one of the most important Italian abstract artists. She was not only active as a painter, but also made sculptures and mixed media installations.
In 1969 she was selected by the jury of the Salon des Grandes et Jeunes d'aujourd'hui in Paris. This recognition of her talent was a harbinger of successes to follow. Her first solo exhibition took place that same year at the Richard Foncke Gallery in Ghent, Belgium, which also included the painting we present to you here.
After the exhibition in Ghent, she was invited by curator Pierre Gaudibert for a solo exhibition at the Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris.
Graziella Marchi's works have a unique atmosphere and show her sensitivity to color, light and composition, this painting is one of the best works from her early period, the abstract composition ,exceptional use of color and masterful brushwork are endlessly fascinating.
