Postmodern steel Sensilla chair by Christoph Siebrasse, 1980's

This chair is made of stainless steel, a striking feature of the Sensilla chair is the innovative suspension of the seat. Four cables hold the seat, allowing it to move freely in all directions. This design promotes active and dynamic sitting and was revolutionary at the time.

The chair was produced in a limited edition of only 150 pieces. Examples of the Sensilla chair are held in the collections of leading museums, including the Museum für Angewandte Kunst in Cologne and the Deutsches Architekturmuseum in Frankfurt.

Christoph R. Siebrasse, born 1944 in Wermelskirchen, is a German furniture designer and artist known for his work at the intersection of sculpture and design. In 1970, he founded a studio with Rainer Schenk, which later moved to Cologne. His designs from the late 1980s and early 1990s are often unique pieces or handmade objects in small editions, characterized by hand-welded frame constructions of square stainless steel.
